Chinese Story Has Drawn Wide Public Attention

"China won!"

In November 13th, the times magazine named its cover this words both in Chinese and English. It is true that the "China story" has drawn wide public attention, and becomes the new era's theme. More and more cultural images have become the business cards of "China story". The majority of us are driven to do affairs in the most efficient way possible, which leads to innovation. So, provided that we want to increase our country's influence, and we should know how to tell our stories well.

The majority of the Chinese are familiar with Lin Yutang's Moment in Peking. At the beginning, Lin actually wanted to translate The Dream of Red Mansion into English. But unfortunately, it failed for some triggers. Instead of that, he wrote Moment in Peking, which the actual contribution is to introduce Chinese society to foreigners. Lin is not only a mavin of translator but a good storytelling man.

Being an excellent interpretor is one thing that quite a few people strive for, but not everyone among us attains. It is a long-term matter and I cling to attach importance to the following causes.

To begin with, the meaning of the entire sentence should be clear and exact, and afterward the general meaning is expressed according to language habits of the native language. Perhaps if we shift our goal from translating the words in the same way in the country to leting it smooth and think the expression secondly that we will be successful in exchanging information. To summarize, translation skills gained from expressions must always be complemented by translation skills gained from traditional stories and codes of language, to be of real value.

There is one more point that classical words of China have deep meaning. As some scholars have pointed out," monosyllabic" is aesthetic standard of Chinese literature. The complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society. In this way, put ourselves in their shoes. There without doubt that we should put ourselves in the first place. But we have taken this ability to a positive extreme by knowing western readers' reading habits, in a bit to interpreter our culture clearly. Sometimes some words or expressions in the English language have to be converted from one part of speech into another in the Chinese language. So, when we consider the various factors that exert a part in determining whether a story or a sentence is successful, understanding the differences between Chinese and western's way of thinking patterns is the first to come to mind. In brief, a person who aspires to be a great teller should put emphasis on the two different language systems, which is also imperative for us to spread our motherland.
